INSURANCE LAWS

INSURANCE LAWS HAVE CHANGED
  • The Federal Government brought into effect new laws regarding insurance cover in 2004.
  • Furniture removal businesses cannot offer insurance to customers unless they have completed an accredited insurance course.
  • You need to know who the insurance company is, and what is covered in the policy - in writing.
  • Furniture removal businesses are not required to provide any kind of insurance cover to customers.
  • Insurance is NOT FREE. If you want it - you have to pay for it.
  • If you don't take out insurance - you are not covered.
  • The hourly rate is what you pay for moving only - it does not include insurance.
  • We are not insurance agents - if you want us to move you and you want insurance cover, see a broker.

IT WOULD BE IN YOUR BEST INTEREST TO TAKE OUT INSURANCE
It is inevitable that there may be damage to your goods in spite of the best intentions of the best removalist. It should be remembered that furniture was never supposed to be moved and was not built to withstand being jolted in a truck, even with the best packing. Truck accidents happen on the open road all the time - it would be in your best interest to take out an insurance policy.

A WORD OF WARNING ABOUT INSURANCE COVER
Most insurance companies will not pay customers for any kind of damage to the contents of their cartons, if the customers have done the packing themselves. Also, the operation of electrical goods will not be covered, unless stated otherwise in the contract and READ THE FINE PRINT.
